Grandalism, DiverseWorks, 1117 East Freeway, opening reception 6-9pm. This series of street art exhibitions continues featuring the work of W3R3ON3. This exhibit runs through June 11. 11-GRANDALISM-5

Emily Johnson presents The Thank You Bar, Diverseworks, 1117 East Freeway, Thu/Fri 7:30pm & 9:30pm, Sat 7:30pm only. A performance/installation of dance, music and storytelling connecting ideas of displacement, longing, and language to history, pre-conceived notions, architecture, and myth. Created and performed by Alaska-born choreographer Emily Johnson with composers/musicians James Everest and Joel Pickard, with lighting design by Heidi Eckwall, beadwork by Karen Beaver, and paper sculpture by Krista Walsh. 11-M04-5

Aces for Adoption Charity Tennis Tournament, reception Fri 6:30pm at residential address in Cypress, tournament Sat-Sun 9am-4pm at Copperfield Racquet & Health Club, 15700 Longenbaugh. $50 for reception only, $100 individual/$400 team to play. Benefiting Spaulding for Children, a non-profit foster care and adoption services agency. Reception features live music from Staci’s Edge, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction. Saturday 04-16

Disco Green Electronic Music Festival, Discovery Green, noon-10pm. Back for a second year, Houston’s downtown park is transformed into an outdoor dance club. Beverage booths near the main stage will be available alongside the usual offerings at The Lake House and The Grove. Hosted by resident DJs Mr. Bristle and DJ Drew; also featuring Kerri ‘Kaoz’ Chandler, Little Martin, Ceeplus Bad Knives, Henry Chow, Sasha Braverman and Mike W. 11-M04-4

Bruce Robison, McGonigel’s Mucky Duck, 2425 Norfolk, 7pm, $18. Bruce is better known as a songwriter behind such talents as Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks and George Strait; he takes the stage at the Duck to show he can sing, too. 11-W15-2

Darwin’s Finches/The Escatones/Saxton Fox/Jody Seabody & The Whirls/Clockpole, Super Happy Fun Land, 3801 Polk, $8. Showcase of psychedelic rock/garage music. 11-W15-3

Since I’m a bit late with this one, I’m extending the date range to cover the first weekend in May. I may be doing this for the next couple of months, so that by July I’ll be back to the top of the month.

Stick ‘Em Up Exclusive Debut, Landmark River Oaks Theater, 2009 West Gray, 7:30pm/9:30pm/10:30pm, $10, tickets available at Aurora Picture Show website. (Note: First two screenings are sold out; tickets are only available for the third screening.) Filmmaker Alex Luster of Shoot Edit Sleep shows the world of a guerilla art form called wheatpasting, in all stages: conception, creation, placement, and ultimately removal by city abatement/enforcement authorities. Ravensway Stables Benefit, Cypress ACE Hardware & Feed, 11655 Jones Road, 10am-2pm. On the night of February 13, a fire gutted the Ravensway Stables, taking the lives of six horses. This event is a fundraiser for those who lost a horse (100% of proceeds). Featuring: barbecue, silent auctions, new saddle raffle (tickets $2.50 each), petting zoo, tack sale, bake sale. Memory bracelets will also be on sale ($2.50 each). 11-M04-2

Linda’s Block Party, Westheimer & Driscoll (Paulie’s Restaurant parking lot), 4pm-10pm. Fundraiser for Linda Salinas, a friend of the community who was recently injured in a scooter accident. 11-M04-3
