2009-10-06/12 Weekly LOVIEE

I’ve been anxiously awaiting this day for some time, and hopefully some of you have as well. This is it: the big one. The posting of this weekly LOVIEE marks the official wide launch of Quinn’s Big City. I’d like to thank the readers that have been here through the soft launch, and welcome the new readers we’re getting today as part of the wide launch.

The first post explains a lot of things in case you’re new, or you just missed it. I’ll be following up with more commentary later in the week.

Tuesday 10-06

Revolver presents Eyes Set To Kill at Meridian, 1503 Chartres Street, $10 advance or $12 day of show. Doors at 6:30pm. Metal/screamo band from Tempe, Arizona, with a very unique and addictive sound. Wednesday 10-07

Artist Mixer at Blossom Street Gallery, 4809 Blossom Street, 6-9pm. The current artists whose works are on display at the gallery will be on hand to mix and mingle with art lovers, and original paintings will also be on sale. 09-W41-1 Facebook event page

Thursday 10-08

Terrance Simien and The Zydeco Experience, Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney, 6:30-8:30pm. Part of Thursday Concerts presented by Capital One Bank. Co-sponsored by Houston Press, Saint Arnold Brewing Company, and 103.7 KHJK. Described as “a hypnotic blend of funk-reggae flavored-Afro-Caribbean-world music” (Discovery Green Web site). They probably said it far better than I ever could. 09-W41-3 Facebook event page

Friday 10-09

Oni-Con Pre-registration Party, The Coffee Groundz, 2503 Bagby, 7pm-midnight. Oni-Con is an anime convention taking place in Houston Halloween weekend (2009-10-31/11-01). 09-W41-4 Facebook event page
