Last week I mentioned an announcement coming down the pipe. It’s still coming, it’s just that a few things are in flux right now.

You’ll notice this LOVIEE looks a lot more like the ones from the month or so after wide launch. I’m going back to a more inclusive format. The best changes are yet to come; more details will be coming later in the week (for real this time).

Tuesday 02-23

Band of the Irish Guards, Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana, 7:30 pm, $22-$57. In over a century of the band’s existence, the Band of the Irish Guards has never toured the United States until now. This is the Houston stop on the tour. Presented by the Society for the Performing Arts. 10-W09-1

Wednesday 02-24

Roky Erickson, Continental Club, 3700 Main, doors 8pm, show 9pm, $25. Roky brings a very addictive, back-to-basics, 70s/80s classic rock groove that everyone should check out at least once. Chase Hamblin opens. 10-W09-2

Mildred’s Umbrella Theater presents The Flu Season, Midtown Arts Center, 1423 Holman, 8pm (all days), $15 ($8 students/seniors). A love story set in a hospital and a theater, written by Will Eno. A production of The Flu Season in New York won the 2004 NY Newsday Oppenheimer Award. 10-MUTFS

Friday 02-26

Aurora Picture Show presents Shadowbox Cinema, Freneticore Theater, 5102 Navigation, $7 (free for APS members). Co-curated by the Ann Arbor Film Festival (AAFF) and Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD), this exhibit showcases several gems of indie and underground cinema. 10-W09-3

Saturday 02-27

Johnny Cash Bash, The Continental Club, 3700 Main, doors 8pm, $15, 21+. Featuring: The Skeletons, Glenna Bell with Jimmy Pizzitola, The Band in Black, Craig Kinsey Band, and W. S. “Fluke” Holland Band. 10-M02-3

“Critically Caroline / Massive Collective” Opening Reception, Caroline Collective, 4820 Caroline, 6-9pm. Celebrating the artwork of Houston Critical Mass cyclists. Artists featured: Chuy Benitez, Kira Black, Oliver Bludworth, Matt Bower, Lindsay Burleson, Brittney Connelly, Claudia Cruz, Shannon Duncan, Osman Galindo, Christa Havican, Sarah Hazel, Corbin Hughes, Marian Ochoa, Smitty Regula, Kyle Silverstein, Nick Teel, Matt Tremble, and Ervin Valdez.
