My apologies in advance for the huge void this week. It seems there’s not a lot going on since it’s the week after the Fourth of July. I pieced together what I could; hopefully next week will be better.

Sara Van Buskirk/The Literary Greats, Continental Club, 3700 Main, show 10pm/11:30pm (respectively). Sara is a local folk/Americana singer/guitarist who performed at the first Canned Acoustica. CHangoMan will also be performing during happy hour for early arrivals. 11-W27-

Saturday 07-09

ArtHouston, various art galleries and hours (see www.arthouston.com for details), free admission. A day-long “art crawl” for art fans around the city. Many galleries will host evening receptions as well as opening during the day. 11-W27-

Dax Riggs/The Examples, Fitzgerald’s, 2706 White Oak, doors 8pm, $12 advance/$14 day of (tickets available from Stubwire). Dax is the former lead singer of Acid Bath and has had a solo act since 2007; he is currently residing in Austin. 11-W27-

The 71s/Black Queen Speaks, Warehouse Live, 813 St. Emanuel, doors 8pm, show 8:30pm, $10 (purchase tickets online). Two local rock legends headline this show. Also featuring Brannigan and The Vehement Burn. 11-M07-4
